I’ve been working out at the SAC with Greg Svoboda as a personal trainer for about 2 months now, and have loved every session.
In a month of working out, I’ve started to see results already. I feel stronger – I couldn’t do more than 5 pushups, and hit 20 yesterday; and went up from climbing 20 floors on the stair stepper, to 60. People have commented that I look more toned, I’ve dropped an inch on my waist, added muscle, and am wearing clothes I hadn’t worn in a year – all while eating more than I did in the past!
Greg is a nazi about form – it surprises me how he’ll catch something as small as your weight not being on your heels when you squat, or the slightest bend in your back. He focuses on strength, rather than muscle. Most things we do in the gym transition to activities that you do in life everyday. He has helped with diet as much as he has with exercise and form – starting with an analysis of what your eating habits are, and gradual changes to get you where you should be. His blog with weekly recipes includes fun things like ribs, cheesecake and healthy whipped cream. Who ever heard of healthy cheesecake before?!
The best part, he’s always smiling, friendly and makes every session fun, and diverse. Make no mistake – they’re not easy. I wouldn’t push myself that hard on my own, that I know for a fact! But crazy as it sounds, working with him has made me want to go to the gym 5 days a week and endure an hour of agony. But as you walk away drenched in sweat, you know your body is thanking you for the effort!
